Tribute to pastor Doreen Moseley

We honor Pastor Doreen Moseley as a faithful member of Christian Heritage Ministries from its inception in the early 1980s.

The seeds of Christian Heritage Ministries were planted when we were members of International Christian Center in Staten Island. At that time a bus load of worshippers from Brooklyn would travel to Staten Island each Sunday.  As the first Bus Captain on this route, Sis. Doreen was responsible for contacting those who were traveling, planning the route as the driver made each stop, and ensuring that we arrived at church and back home safely. She gave this responsibility to Sis. Nola Fullwood when she began to teach Sunday School.

When we transitioned to full time ministry in Brooklyn, Sis. Doreen continued to develop her gift of teaching and to grow in her love for the Word of God. Her passionate teaching, as a Sunday School teacher and a small group leader, has made an eternal difference in the lives of many. Sis. Doreen was also a faithful member of the Women’s ministry, serving as the assistant to Sis. Nola Fullwood when she was president.

Sis. Doreen was always willing to help in any area. As the owner of one of the few vehicles in the ministry in the early days, she was always willing to give others a ride. Anyone who needed a ride would turn to Sis. Doreen, and no matter how far it was, she would drive them home!

As the ministry grew, Pastor Doreen was assigned to minister to the Christian Heritage Choir. She led the evening devotions before choir rehearsals, praying for and encouraging the members of the choir. She developed a mother type of relationship with each choir member, making each one feel special and cared for. She did not sing with them, but she was a valuable member of the choir and was a part of every event in their lives.

Pastor Doreen also served faithfully on the Board of Elders and as a member of the Radiant Lamps, which is our ministry for seniors that visits nursing homes, the Shelter Ministry, and the prayer team, always serving with love and compassion. We will miss her dearly, and yet we rejoice that she has now received her heavenly reward, hearing her beloved Master say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Revelation 14:13, NIV: "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, 'Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.'"
